Capt. Thomas Haddock graduated from Lowndes High School in 1992 and began working for the Waycross Fire Department in August 1994. He studied EMT at Valdosta Tech and Paramedic at OTC, becoming the first paramedic in the Waycross Fire Department.

He was promoted to Driver/Engineer in 2005 and Lieutenant in 2008. As a Lieutenant he served as an Engine Company Officer in charge of an engine, crew, and station. In 2011 Capt. Haddock became one of the original members of GSAR TF-8. Task Force 8 is a regional Heavy Rescue Task Force. He completed hundreds of hours of training and has Technician certification in the fields of Confined Space, Haz-Mat, Rope Rescue, Trench Collapse, and Structural Collapse.

Capt. Haddock has a Fire Science Degree from West Georgia Tech. He is a Fire Instructor 2 and a Georgia EMS Instructor level 2. He also serves as an instructor in live fire as a Lead Propane Fire Control Instructor and one of the two Structural Fire Control Instructors in the Waycross Fire Department.
