Fire Prevention Bureau
Activities
The Fire Prevention Bureau is
responsible for providing inspection services to the City of
Waycross. These services include preconstruction site plan reviews,
construction inspections, existing commercial building inspections,
automatic fire sprinkler plan review and inspections, and fire
alarm plan review and inspections. The Bureau attempts to review
and return all construction and fire system plans within 72 hours of
submission. Existing commercial buildings and businesses have become
accustomed to seeing the Bureau staff in the role of fire safety
inspectors and consultants.
The Bureau also conducts
investigations into all fires which occur within the City.
Determining the origin and cause of a fire plays a prime role in
preventing future incidents. Bureau personnel remain on call 24
hours a day to respond to fire incidents.
A special emphasis is placed on
Community Fire Safe Education by the Bureau. To this end, we touched
over 2,000 individuals in Fiscal Year 2004-2005 with lectures,
discussions, station tours, school visits and many other awareness
functions. The Fire Prevention Bureau strives to continue to make
Waycross a safe place for all.
