Daniel J. Yarbrough is a lifelong resident of Waycross. His father, Elliott Yarbrough, served as both commissioner and Mayor of Waycross in the mid-to-late 1940’s. Married to the former Carolyn Cannon of Waycross, they are proud parents of two daughters, Lindsay and Jessica. Lindsay is a Speech Pathologist, married and living in Atlanta. Jessica is in her first year at Valdosta State University. Carolyn teaches Special Education at Williams Heights Elementary and has taught for 29 years. Commissioner Yarbrough is co-owner of Yarbrough’s Office Products & Printing in Waycross with his brother, Sonny. Together they have run the business started by their father and uncle in 1932 for over 30 years. He is an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he has served in numerous leadership positions as well as being a member of the Chancel Choir, the Handbell Choir, and Cornerstone, a singing ensemble. Yarbrough has just completed a three-year term on the Downtown Waycross Development Authority where he served as Chairman for two years, is a member of Waycross Main Street, a member and past president and treasurer of the Waycross Rotary Club, and a Board member of the Okefenokee Heritage Center. He has also served on the Chamber of Commerce and YMCA Boards of Directors. A 1971 graduate of Waycross High School, Yarbrough received his B.S. in Business Management from Valdosta State College in 1976. To the constituents of District 5 specifically and to citizens of Waycross Yarbrough says, “Help me honor the efforts of every leader that has come before us to maintain Waycross’ reputation as a wonderful place to raise a family. At the same time, let’s work together to place Waycross at the cutting edge of business and commerce using our abundance of resources and people. While we are truly blessed with a great location and a desirable climate, our greatest asset is our people. Working together we can make Waycross everything we want it to be. |
